Yesterday I went to a movie called Recovered, which was a documentary about children recovering from autism through ABA therapy with an agency called CARD. ABA is Applied Behavioral Therapy and basically you create an individualized plan which involves 30-40 hours a week of one to one therapy services to teach the child to overcome […]

  • Shalini - Brilliant. CARD is one of the best ABA agencies. Too bad I missed the event.ReplyCancel

“You know, you don’t need dairy for calcium at all. When people say you need dairy for calcium, I ask them, “Where do you think cows get their calcium for those strong bones?” Well, the answer is, of course, green grass! Green leafy vegetables have way more calcium than dairy has ever had, and our […]

  • journeytocrunchville - Hey you! I just wanted to drop in and say hi and let you know I haven’t forgotten about you. Sorry I haven’t kept in touch. Things are soooo crazy right now.

I’ve heard the green grass thing before too!ReplyCancel

  • Tamara - I agree…we have all been much healthier since cutting out all milk. It is interesting too that most people rely on dairy for their calcium intake, yet the U.S.has the highest incidence of osteoporosis.ReplyCancel

  • Cannon and Kassie - have you ever researched raw milk? we have been getting it and it is soooo good.ReplyCancel

I was looking up the nutritional status of vegetables on the world’s healthiest foods and I was inspired to get my kids to eat their veggies. My kids eat more veggies in the summer when we can pick them ourselves, but vegetables found in the supermarket just aren’t as tasty as fresh, organic veggies from […]

  • Lauren - Your commercial sounds good to me …… I need to head down to Trader Joe’s and get some green beans! I never thought about doing that with food – it is a clever way to get kids to try new things.ReplyCancel

  • Cannon and Kassie - I tried the mindless eating thing and it has worked beautifully! now if she wants to watch a movie she has to be eating fruits or veggies. She has been eating carrots, green beans, cukes, artichokes. Thanks for the amazing tip!ReplyCancel

I want to know what your kids like to eat so I can include healthy recipes for meals that people make for their kids. I would love to know: WHAT IS YOUR CHILD’S FAVORITE DINNER?

  • Joel White - This week it appears to Macaroni and Cheese.ReplyCancel

  • Anonymous - My two sons (5 and 7) LOVE mac and cheese (of course), but I also rely heavily on burritos and dumplings. They are great way to stash nutrition.ReplyCancel

  • Kim - Protein-wise, lamb chops or tilapia. Veg-wise, broccoli or asparagus. With a toasted slice of homemade bread made with almond flour (we are mostly SCD!)ReplyCancel

  • gyver - Cornmeal crusted tilapia, gluten-free french fries, grapes.
Corn on the cob if in season.ReplyCancel

  • Peggy - Both of my kids love steak. Peas, corn, carrots, blueberries, grapes. My son love rice. I have recently made meatballs w/ combo of turkey and beef and they both like them.ReplyCancel

  • Anonymous - Steak, green beans, and lentil soupReplyCancel

  • Kaipo - likes burgers, but at Jackson Hole only wants to eat cheddar cheese and tortilla chips.

Likes PB&J, tuna sandwiches. He will eat tuna rolls and pasta (no sauce). Loves bread and will eat anything cheese-filled.

    :)ReplyCancel

  • Anonymous - Hands down the favorite is gravy on rice with corn. It can be made from whole ingredients or from jars and cans. Depends on the day. . . .ReplyCancel

  • Shalini - My son, Aari loves chicken marinated with lime, salt and pepper, then, coated with egg yolk and amaranth flour.ReplyCancel

  • Jenniford - Wow–very impressed with those ambitious eaters! My neuro-typical daughter will eat the most exotic foods with glee. My autism-spectrum son is SO picky and has oral sensory issues. It has to crunch. Plus, he is GF/CF/mostly SF. We search for healthy crackers and chips, and spread them with nut butters, tofu spreads, pureed fruits. We put micro-pieces of chicken in the spreads. Luckily he eats scrambled eggs, too.ReplyCancel

  • Our Family Is His - My son is a little odd ball. Give him a plate of fresh grape tomatoes, purple grapes, Tofutti Better Than Sour Cream, a pickle and a corn tortilla and he’s in heaven. Our issue is, he won’t eat proteins. We are seeing a nutritionist tomorrow to help him with this.ReplyCancel

  • Heidi - Tacos with meat in a fried soft corn tortilla and artichokes. And she just discovered Chocolate, especially dark chocolate, at 2 years 7 months she is a self proclaimed “chocolaholic”.ReplyCancel

  • Sortin'ItAllOut - Hi, first of all thank-you so much for this blog. It is just what I need for some renewed energy and creativity for our gf, df,sf diets.

I was going to say tortilla pizzas-but that is only for the only gf kids.

My daughter and myself are gf, sf, and df. We like a simple crock pot beef roast with chopped green peppers and onions. Those peppers and onions are so important because without them we don’t really enjoy a roast at all!
