Dr. Sears on Vaccines–Some Suggestions…

Vaccines are the subject of much debate and something many parents struggle to figure out. Sometimes even people who normally avoid additional vaccines are in a position where they must get vaccines for various reasons. Recently, a friend asked what she could do to help her system deal with vaccines she was required to get for a job.

Dr. Sears, who wrote a book called The Vaccine Book, has written about How to Boost Your Child’s Immune System on askdrsears.com, noting “Children and adults with healthy immune systems are also less likely to suffer a serious vaccine reaction.

Here are things Dr. Sears includes in his suggestions of what to take:

  • Omega-3 Fish Oil Supplement (from Carlson or Nordic Naturals)
  • Probiotics (“especially a week before and several weeks after vaccinations.”)
  • Vitamin A or Cod Liver Oil (“Give vitamin A once a day for 3 days prior to vaccines and continue each day for 10 days after.”) note: babies under 9 months should not take cod liver oil.
  • Vitamin C (“give this once a day for 5 days starting on the day of the shots.)
